CVU White G95 traveled to Irvine this past weekend to participate in the 2008 FC Irvine Showcase.

CVU started Saturday’s games off with a 2-0 win over South Coast Bayern and ended the day with a 5-1 win over the Wolves. On Sunday morning CVU clashed with MVSC Riptide. Both teams were tied with 18 points and it would be the winner of this game that moved on to the Champioinship. After a hard fought first half the score was all even at 0-0. The second half belonged to CVU, eventually wearing down the Riptide and earning a 2-0 win.

The championship game came against a tough Freedom FC team. CVU took an early 1-0 lead but Freedom came back to tie the game with only four minutes left in regulation. The teams then played fourteen minutes of overtime and with the game still tied they moved into penalty kicks. After five shooters the teams were tied at three kicks apiece. Freedom’s sixth shot went off the crossbar and CVU took advantage. Julia stepped up and put the ball in the back of the net and the game was over. CVU were the 2008 FC Irvine Showcase Champions.
